A group of people on a stage

Ahus Revue1

Ahusrevy1 consists of a group of revue-loving individuals from most divisions and clinics at the hospital who share a common goal of having fun on stage. It is a hectic time at one of the country's largest acute hospitals, but that makes it even more important to have a bit of gallows humour and to laugh a little!

Follow the revue group on Facebook.

The revue group has performances at Lillestrøm Cultural Centre, and a lot of work goes into getting the shows ready.

If you are employed at Ahus, you can join in on this fun work!

Ahusrevy1 is planning a new production in November 2026 and will start work in January of the same year. For this, they need people, not just actors, but also other helpers for the group, such as make-up, costumes, and similar.

Before the Performance

The revue group has a performance every other year and starts the year with a writing weekend in January. The entire group goes away for a weekend with a professional scriptwriter to work on ideas, characters, themes, and more. The members write the framework and ideas for the performance themselves. A scriptwriter then works on the material, which is ready for rehearsals to begin in August.

- It’s a lot of work; the actual rehearsals start in August. We meet two evenings a week and have three rehearsal weekends before the premiere. Reading the script and assigning roles is the focus at the beginning, before we start playing the scenes on the floor, says André Øien, a revue member and IT manager for Campus Ahus.

- This is fun and enjoyable, so the hours fly by. It’s exciting to develop oneself and stay well outside of one’s comfort zone. It’s fascinating to gain insight into life at Ahus from different perspectives.

Adapted for the Employee

The revue group receives assistance from Ahus to adjust schedules as much as possible.

- We are very grateful to receive leave during the last and most hectic week before the premiere. Everything else in life is put on hold around performance time; it requires a lot of focus and presence, says Øien.

About Ahusrevy

  • Ahusrevy1 has been bringing joy and camaraderie among staff at Akershus University Hospital since 1999. The initiative came from Odd Granlund and Jan Benterud, who began performing sketches and songs at the Christmas party in the orthopaedic department. After the "SiA crisis" in 1998, they wanted to lift the spirits at the hospital and gathered a revue group of engaged employees.

  • The first performance, SiA(h) – revue for an open palate, premiered in 1999 with Liv Aakvik from Tramteateret as the director. Rune Bratfoss has led the orchestra as conductor from the very beginning, and lyricist Trond Morten Kristensen Venaasen has contributed since 2001.

  • Ahusrevy1 has staged performances over the years at various venues, from Triaden Storsal to Lillestrøm Cultural Centre, where the last four productions have taken place. In 2006 and 2008, the revue experimented with the farce genre before returning to classic revue in 2010.

  • Director Marius Havik has led the last seven performances, while Mathias Calmeyer directed the two farces. The revue has always been led by an Ahus employee.

  • Ahusrevy1 has solid support from Ahus, the Cooperative Society, and the Housing Foundation, and collaborates closely with Ahus Culture and Leisure. The revue is a testament to the strong working environment at Ahus and provides employees with the opportunity to develop their creative sides, build community, and create enjoyable experiences together.
