Accreditation as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre is anchored in Ahus's Development Plan 2040 and involves a holistic enhancement of the entire cancer field. This includes, among other things:
- improved coordination between diagnostics, treatment, and follow-up
- close interaction between clinic and research
- increased patient involvement and patient-centred care
- strengthened interdisciplinary collaboration across divisions
- quality improvement and systematic development work
This work is organised through a governance system that ensures both strategic leadership and professional involvement.
## Why OECI Accreditation?
OECI has developed a comprehensive quality framework for cancer institutions in Europe. By becoming accredited as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Ahus commits to:
- continuous quality development
- research integrated into clinical practice
- patient involvement in the development of services
- international collaboration and knowledge sharing
This provides increased assurance for patients and demonstrates that Ahus aims to be among the leading hospitals in Europe for cancer treatment.
Accreditation is not an end in itself. It is a tool for continuous improvement and coordination, and an important step in the development of future cancer care at Ahus.
