The medical library serves the hospital's staff and students in practice. ID cards must be presented upon request.
Who can borrow?
The library primarily serves staff at Ahus
Students in practice can borrow from the library's collections
Staff with primary affiliation to another educational institution are advised to use their institution's library
Library card
Staff must have an ID card from Ahus to be registered as a borrower. If you have a national library card, this can be used as a library card in the medical library (the card must be registered in our system before you can borrow)
Students use their student card/library card from their institution as a library card in the medical library (the card must be registered in our system before you can borrow)
You are responsible for ensuring that your contact information is always correct in the library's register
Loan periods
The loan period for books is normally 4 weeks (loans from other libraries may have different loan periods)
Journals are not available for loan
Loans from other libraries (interlibrary loans)
Books you need for professional development, research, or studies can be borrowed from other libraries
This applies only to Ahus staff
Students and others with primary affiliation to another educational institution must contact their institution for this service
Renewing loans
Loans can be renewed up to 5 times if the books are not reserved for others
You can renew your own loans via Oria.no
Late returns
When the loan period has expired, we send reminders
If the material is not returned or replaced after repeated reminders, the borrower will lose borrowing rights until the material is returned or replaced
Liability for replacement arises if the material is not returned. Replacement claims will be sent 2 weeks after the loss of borrowing rights
Lost or damaged (liability for replacement)
You are personally responsible for what you borrow and for returning it to the library within the loan periods
Lost or damaged material can be replaced with a new copy or a replacement fee equivalent to the purchase price + NOK 350 in administrative fees
For material borrowed from other libraries, the replacement amount is determined by the owning library
All fees will remain in the system until the borrower has settled their account. Borrowers with outstanding fees will be blocked
