Streamlining trauma-focused cognitive behaviour therapy in Norwegian children and adolescent mental health services (STREAM)

STREAM

The main purpose of STREAM is to investigate whether an intensive version of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF CBT) is an acceptable and feasible treatment that provides trauma exposed children and adolescents with PTSD shorter and more effective treatment trajectories.

The project has three objectives:

  1. We will develop an intensive version of TF‑CBT and strategies for its implementation, in collaboration with relevant users and stakeholders.
  2. We will conduct a multicenter experimental health‑service research study to evaluate the effect of the implementation on treatment length and treatment frequency in ordinary outpatient clinics in PHBU.
  3. We will evaluate the feasibility of intensive TF‑CBT in the clinic and its acceptability for patients through examination of both quantitative and qualitative indicators (for example, interviews with patients, therapists, and BUP leaders).

Study Protocol

STREAM is a collaborative project between  the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and the the Norwegian Center for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies (NKVTS).
