Evaluation of Specialized Health Service Use Before and After FACT Team Establishment in the Ahus Region

FACT in the Ahus region

FACT (Flexible Assertive Community Treatment) is a model for flexible, outreach-based treatment for people with serious mental illness and complex needs who require support from multiple services over time. FACT teams are multidisciplinary, with staff from both municipal and specialist health services. Team members provide integrated treatment and care in the patient’s own environment and can rapidly increase or reduce the level of support according to the patient’s needs.

The main aim of the study is to investigate whether and how patients’ contact with departments at Ahus changes when they receive follow-up from a FACT team. We investigate contacts with all departments at Ahus during the two years prior to entering the FACT team and compare this with the period following the start of FACT follow-up.

The project has three objectives

  • To investigate whether and how contact with Ahus changes following enrolment in a FACT team.
  • To describe the characteristics of the patient population receiving follow-up from FACT teams at Ahus.
  • To examine how long patients remain in FACT follow-up and the reasons for discharge from the teams.

The project will generate knowledge that can inform future development and organisation of FACT services.

The project is a collaboration between the Research Department, the Department of Analytics, and FACT teams at Ahus.

The following FACT teams are included in the study:

FACT Kongsvinger

FACT Gardermoregionen

FACT Lillestrøm

FACT Grorud

FACT Stovner

FACT Alna

FACT Nordre Follo

FACT Interkommunalt
