Forventninger til ledere og utvikling

Our leadership model describes the content of the leadership role at Ahus and defines the expectations for leaders within the organisation. The leadership model encompasses the following five areas:

  • understanding the leadership role and demonstrating leadership skills – comprehending what leadership entails, what the responsibilities of a leader involve, and showing the willingness and ability for personal development in the leadership role
  • setting goals and showing the way – the leader's role in establishing clear goals and direction for the various professional environments to work towards, which is an important foundation for development, organisation, and collaboration to create a good specialist healthcare service
  • leading and developing others – "making things happen through others", the resources you lead are those that together will create results and quality
  • taking charge and maintaining control – it is also part of the leader's daily routine to follow up at various levels, adjust when necessary, and correct where needed
  • improving the organisation – the leader's responsibility to continuously work on improvements and the development of the organisation

As a leader at Ahus, you will be connected to a leadership group within your own division/clinic. Here, you will also have the opportunity to develop as part of the leadership team you belong to and as part of the leadership line with leaders at various levels. All leaders start from the same overarching leadership mission, but as this is delegated at different leadership levels and to various parts of the organisation, collaboration and interaction across the board become essential for the whole to function well. All leaders at Ahus will have a competence plan and a personal leadership agreement. The goals in the leadership agreement are developed in collaboration with your own leader during leadership discussions. The development of leaders is a conscious and targeted initiative at Ahus to ensure that we achieve our goals and deliver high quality in our services. Ahus Leadership School offers you training in relevant topics, programmes for individual leadership development, participation in leadership networks, and various meeting places and arenas for leaders that provide valuable contributions to your leadership journey with us.

Aktiviteter i lederskolen

Ahus lederskole består av blant annet følgende aktiviteter:

  • New to Leadership is a mandatory course for all new leaders at Ahus. The training provides a fundamental introduction to systems and management.
  • The course aims to equip you as a leader with the knowledge to practise and master good leadership at Ahus.
  • The course consists of two days introducing systems, four days introducing management, and seven modules covering the topics: recruitment and hiring, finance, organisational management, risk assessment, competency management, resource management, and work scheduling, as well as deviation handling and improvement work.

This is a catalogue of various courses and training opportunities in different subject areas that you can enrol in as needed, both as a new leader and an experienced leader.

Step 1 is a fundamental individual leadership development programme and an offer for leaders with a minimum of one year’s experience who have completed "New as a Leader".

  • The leadership development programme spans a period of approximately ten months with five gatherings and is based on the Ahus leadership model.
  • The programme provides participants with tools and methodologies for personal development and the development of the leadership role in the local context in which the leader works daily.

There are opportunities to be assigned a mentor as needed.

An offer for leaders to strengthen them in daily operations and to exercise leadership. The leaders in the network are gathered from various professional groups.

The objectives of the network are:
  • to provide professional knowledge, advice, and tools for the leaders' daily challenges
  • to create a platform for leadership development in everyday life through learning, experience sharing, and peer support
  • to enhance the quality of assessments, priorities, and decisions

Leadership team development at Ahus is about improving the leadership team's capacity to take responsibility for the division or department's goals, results, and further development. This aims to ensure coherence and mutual interaction between the leadership team's work and the work within the leadership group, as well as implementation at the next level.

The leadership team development is tailored and based on the needs of each individual leadership team.

Annual Leadership Conference

Every year, all leaders, union representatives, and the safety service gather at Ahus for a joint competency development day focusing on key challenges within the organisation.

Annual Senior Leadership Gathering

  • A gathering for leaders at levels 1-3, union representatives, and the safety service that spans two days.
  • The gathering is an important platform for building shared knowledge and understanding across divisions and departments, in collaboration with union representatives and the safety service.
  • It also contributes to the work towards a shared culture of leadership within the hospital, fostering identity and pride.

Training and exercises on relevant topics and scenarios for leaders at Ahus.

  • Skills: consists of two games: welcome as a leader and health, safety, and environment (HSE).
  • The necessary conversation: training aimed at making leaders more confident in having the necessary conversations as early as possible. Here, leaders can try and fail with realistic issues and recognisable situations that have transferable value in a simulated training environment.
