Research and innovation

Akershus University Hospital has extensive research activities, and research is a part of our core operations. Active research environments contribute to enhancing the quality of the treatment offerings; therefore, research is closely integrated with the clinical aspect of the operations.

Increased Knowledge about Diseases

Research at Akershus University Hospital is set to benefit many. Our research groups contribute to this by enhancing knowledge about diseases that affect large patient populations. Many of the patients participate in research projects and student teaching, which helps us to develop an increasingly better treatment offering.

Innovation stemming from research is also an important focus area. It equips us to face the future. Our research environments are actively working on developing new tools for diagnostics and treatment, so that even more patients can receive help.

The Research and Innovation Division (FID) has delegated responsibility for research and innovation at Ahus. FID is organised into two departments: the Department of Health Services Research (HØKH) and the Department of Research Support.
