OpenAthens is the library's login service for staff at Ahus who wish to access the library's e-resources on a personal PC/Mac or mobile device.
Procedure:
- If you do not already have a username and password, contact biblioteket@ahus.no to obtain them. The password is personal and should not be shared with others.
- Go to my.openathens.net
- Log in with your username and password.
- This will open OpenAthens with an overview of the available e-resources, including links to journals and databases that work even if you are not using an Ahus PC.
You can also log in to UpToDate with OpenAthens:
- Open uptodate.com on a personal PC/mobile and click on "Sign in"
- Select "Sign in with OpenAthens"
- Search for the institution; Akershus University Hospital, and log in with your OpenAthens account
Note! If you reach the registration page for a personal profile and do not wish to create one, you can click on the UpToDate icon (top right) to proceed.
Other institutions:
If you are also affiliated with other institutions, you often have access options from home via these as well. For example, see information about this at UiO and OsloMet.
Cannot find full text:
If there are articles, books, chapters, etc., that you cannot access, you can send a request to biblioteket@ahus.no and we will try to obtain it for you.
Mobile apps:
OpenAthens can also be used with the apps BrowZine and Read by QxMD for access to e-journals and articles on mobile devices and tablets.
Plugins (browser extensions):
If you use Google Chrome or Firefox as your browser, you can download plugins for easier access to full text:
- LibKey Nomad - shows if the library has a subscription, and then you can log in with your OpenAthens credentials
- Unpaywall - helps you find free full text
- OpenAccessButton - helps you find free full text
