The application process and employment
Interested in a LIS1 position at Ahus? Here you can read more about how the job advertisement and recruitment process works and get some tips along the way.

The LIS1 positions are advertised twice a year. The service lasts for 18 months and consists of 12 months of service in a hospital followed by 6 months of service in municipal healthcare. At Ahus Nordbyhagen, the hospital service is divided into three parts, while at Ahus Kongsvinger Hospital, it is divided into two parts.

The positions are advertised on the health directorate's job portal. There are national deadlines for the advertisement, sending out offers, and response deadlines for offers.

Criteria
You must have Norwegian authorisation or a licence as a doctor and be proficient in Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish at a high level (at least equivalent to language level C1) to be a suitable candidate. In the job advertisement, you will find more information about the desired qualities for our LIS1 positions.
Since we receive far more applications than we have available positions every six months, a stepwise selection process for candidates to interview is conducted. In the initial round, we use a scoring system where you earn points for relevant work experience, research, positions held, relevant courses, and personal suitability.
The candidates with the highest scores proceed to the next stage, where representatives from the various rotations select which candidates are invited for an interview.

Interview
Ahus (Nordbyhagen and Kongsvinger), Diakonhjemmet Hospital, Lovisenberg Diaconal Hospital, Oslo University Hospital, and Vestre Viken collaborate on the recruitment process. If you have applied to several of the hospitals, you may receive interview offers from multiple places, but you will only receive an employment offer from one of the hospitals in each round. You prioritise where you wish to receive an offer.
- Suitable candidates are invited for interviews in mid-April (for positions advertised in winter) or mid-October (for positions advertised in autumn).
- During the interviews, you will meet representatives from administration, the clinics, union representatives, and municipal healthcare.
- We first create a recommendation and a reserve list before offers of employment are sent out via email. It is not permitted to disclose your position on the reserve list. If a temporary position or remaining places become available, applicants for the regular LIS1 positions will be considered for this.
Start Date
The mandatory introductory course begins in mid-February and mid-August. The start date in each clinic is 1 March or 1 September.
